Who / What Got You Started in Bowling?

I fell in love with the sport of bowling before I could walk. Growing up, Watching the PBA on ABC TV was appointment television. Many a Saturday Afternoon was spent with my Dad over at my Grandpas house and the 3 of us would watch. When I was 3yrs old, I was taken bowling for the 1st time and came to the realization that my favorite thing to watch on TV (Grandpa recorded every show, I’m told I watched it numerous times during the week every week) was in fact not just on TV. I was immediately hooked and have bowled ever since.

What Do You Love About the Sport?

I love that it’s a sport for all ages. Bowling is one of the few things we can do in this life at a very young age and do for our entire lives.

Favorite Bowling Memory

Going to go with something very recent that I feel is for sure #1 on my list these days.

This past spring I shot a 300 Game in an Adult Youth Doubles Tournament with my Daughter as my partner and my son was there watching.

Who is Your Favorite Bowler?

Growing up it was Monacelli, Weber and Holman. The Saturday Show though always entertaining had some extra juice if they were on.

As I got older, I still enjoyed watching them bowl and had the memories. But I began to enjoy more of the details and took a deeper understanding of the sport. I really grew an appreciation for Chris Barnes and Norm Duke.

Awards & Achievements

Many High Averages, Honor Scores, Event Victories but the 1 that stands and sticks out is from my last year in Juniors. I went onto win The Dan Glus Pittsburgh Scratch Scholarship Championships.

It was the 2nd Time I won this event as a couple of years earlier I also won in the handicap division though I was supposed to be entered in the scratch that year but my JR Coordinator felt otherwise. I was being given 4 pins a game so they entered me over there instead of where I wanted to be. I Still roll my eyes thinking of that. Anyways, won the Handicap side that day and posted a number that would have won the scratch side should I have been entered.

Bowling Accomplishments

40 – 300’s
8 – 800’s

For the Record – I count Honor Scores that were shot in Sweepers that were not sanctioned and Pot Games because whether USBC counts them or not, My Wallet certainly did. There also a handful of honor score accomplishments that USBC does not have on my Bowl.com ledger because the secretary in a couple of the mixed leagues I bowled in with my wife when I was younger didn’t submit the scores if you already received a lifetime achievement award.
